A variety of exiting tours. One of the aims of the Iceland Touring Association is to offer interesting hiking and skiing tours for its members and others.ITA is not a tourist company but an association.

About the ITA tours

Tours are in most cases lead by nonprofessional guides that are experienced ITA members.Participants supply their own equipment and food unless otherwise stated. Prepare well and check out your equipment. It is very important to bring warm clothing, rainwear and good hiking boots. Always bring some food, even in shorter hikes!

Lodging, provision and equipment: Lodging is in mountain huts, other houses or tents.

Participants supply their own equipment and food unless otherwise stated. Prepare well and check out your equipment. It is very importandt to bring warm clothing, rainwear and good hiking boots. Always bring some food even int shorter hikes.

Level of difficulty in longer hikes - the Boots

Relatively short and easy hikes per day (normally 4 – 6 hours), mostly on flat land, a light  rucksack, no/easy rivers, suitable for most people.

Medium hikes (normally 5 – 7 hours), often in rugged landscape, a  light rucksack, no/easy rivers, participants need to be in relatively good shape.

Rather long hikes (normally 6 – 8 hours), sometimes camping equipment is needed, rugged and often steep landscape, possibly difficult rivers. Participents need to be in good shape.

Long and demanding hikes (more than 10 hours) in mountains and valleys, difficult rivers can be expected, gear needs to be carried, only for people in very good shape.

Please note that this is just an approximate description of how difficult various tours turn out to be. Unpredictable weather condition may occur and cause some considerable changes.
