Please book your bed in the hut through the blue button located up to the right on this page.

The Hvítárnes hut is the oldest mountain hut owned and operated by the Ferðafélag Íslands (The Iceland Touring Association, FÍ) built in 1930. The hut has a turf roof and is protected by Icelandic law because of its age and uniqueness.

The hut has two floors where a total of 30 people can sleep. The ground floor has an entrance, two rooms with bunk beds and a tiny kitchen. The loft has a small room and larger dormitory with mattresses on the floor. The kitchen has running cold water, a gas-stove and a log-stove and some utensils.

Guests have to take their trash along with them and leave nothing behind at the lodge.

A toilet is located in a separate house, a bit further away and the warden's hut is located close to the toilet. The camping ground is also by the toilet.

The view from the hut is breathtaking. This hut is the starting or end location for hikes on the ancient Kjölur Hiking Trail.
