The Laugavegur trails is one of Iceland's most beloved and widely travelled hiking routes, linking the colourful geothermal landscapes of Landmannalaugar with the green valleys of Þórsmörk, and continuing over the Fimmvörðuháls pass to the cliffs and waterfalls of Skógar. Few trails in the world offer such a combination of natural beauty, geological diversity and shifting scenery - from obsidian lava fields and rhyolite screes to glacial rivers, birch woods and recent volcanic craters.
